The plan sets out clear steps the force, alongside partners, will take to tackle this issue for our communities.
ACC Dave Sutherland, Head of Local Policing and Strategic Lead for ASB, said: “We strive to protect the communities we serve, and tackling ASB is an absolute priority. We understand the harm it poses to our communities, and we are here to help.
“ASB comes in many forms, from low level youth nuisance ASB, to fully ingrained issues such as targeted ASB aimed at vulnerable individuals, and street drug dealing.
“We are already working hard every day to tackle what are often complex issues, and as a result ASB was down in April by 27% compared to same month last year and has seen a reduction of 2.4% over the past 12-months. We know, however, we have much more to do.
“This action plan means communities can expect us to be visible and pro-active in our approach; engaging with them so we can better understand the true impact of ASB and tackling the root causes via a collaborative approach with partners and communities themselves.
“Communities can also expect to have a say on the priorities of their local neighbourhood team. If you want more information about what your local team is doing to tackle the issues that matter to you, then please visit the Your Area section of our website.
“Cleveland Police is wholeheartedly committed to driving meaningful outcomes for communities - but we can’t do it where we don’t know it’s happening. So, what I would say is we want people to report incidents of ASB to us, no matter how big or small. We follow up on every report of ASB so please help us make sure we have the right resources in the right place to help tackle this issue we know affects so many people in our communities.”
